Sites
Adding, editing, archiving and deleting sites; domains, accepted origins, widget settings and the public and secret keys.
A site is one domain you collect feedback from. One site covers the domain and all of its subdomains.
Adding a site
Open Sites and click Add a site. Fill in:
- Name: how the site appears in Userreact, for example "Acme app".
- Domain: a bare domain with no scheme or path, such as
app.acme.io(nothttps://app.acme.io/). Subdomains are accepted automatically. You cannot add the same domain twice; the error "You already have a site for this domain." means it already exists in your account. - Collect: Bugs and suggestions (default), Bugs only or Suggestions only.
- Widget language: Auto (visitor's browser) (default), English, Français, Español or Deutsch. Visitors can still switch language in the widget.
- Floating button: Automatic (hidden when your page has its own link) (default), Always show, or Never show (open it from your own link). See Installing the widget.
Click Create site. You land on the site's page with the snippet to paste into your pages.
If Add a site is greyed out, or the Domain field says "Your plan includes N domain(s). Upgrade to connect another.", you have reached your plan's number of sites. Archiving a site frees its slot. See Plans and limits.
The site page
Open Sites and click a site. Its page has:
- Install the widget (step one): the script snippet and the code for your own trigger link.
- Identify your users (step two): signing examples for Laravel and Node.js. See Identifying your users.
- Settings: what the widget collects, its language and the floating button. Click Change settings to edit them.
- Keys: the Public key (
ur_pub_…), which is safe to expose and appears in your page source, and the Secret key (ur_sec_…), which must stay on your server. Anyone holding the secret key can vouch for any identity on this site. Click Reveal to show a key and the copy button to copy it. - Integrations: Issue tracker (GitHub), Slack and Element cards, when available. See GitHub and Slack and Element.
- Accepted origins, if you added extra ones.
- Reports from this site: opens the inbox filtered to this site.
Keys are generated by Userreact. Rotating the secret key from the dashboard is not available yet.
Editing a site
On the site's page click Edit. You can change every field from Add a site, plus Other accepted origins.
Changing the domain: reports from the old domain are rejected once you save. Your snippet and keys stay the same.
Other accepted origins are extra domains the widget may send reports from, such as a staging host (staging.acme.io). Type each one and press Enter. Up to 20. Their subdomains are accepted too. Reports sent from anywhere other than the site's domain and these origins are rejected before they are stored.
Click Save changes (it is enabled once something has changed).
Archiving and restoring a site
On the edit page, in the Danger zone, click Archive site. Archiving stops the widget collecting on that domain and frees the domain on your plan. The site's reports stay in your inbox. Archive is offered when the site has reports.
An archived site shows "This site is archived." with a Restore site button. Restoring needs a free slot on your plan; otherwise you see "Your plan includes N domain(s). Archive another site or upgrade to restore this one."
Deleting a site
In the Danger zone, click Delete site. If the site has reports, type its domain to confirm. Deleting permanently removes the site, its keys, and all its reports, screenshots and notes. It cannot be undone. To keep the reports, archive the site instead.
Site icon
Userreact fetches each site's favicon automatically and refreshes it daily. If none is found, the site shows the first letter of its domain.
